The 24-member class includes nine football inductees, three baseball players, one coach, and a duo of soccer standouts—including Mary Weems Sturken—who was one of the first female athletes in Lakeside history to earn an athletic scholarship to play for Erskine College. Rachel Mann, who is one of three gymnasts getting inducted, was voted into the Hall of Fame last year, but was unbale to attend the ceremony. All inductees must be present to get inducted, and Mann will join Carol Ansley and Denise Finney as the trio of gymnastics inductees. The Beth Cooley Cheerleading Award is going to Cathy Clement-Butler this year and the John Kicklighter Service Award is going to Terry Tucker and Herb Broughton—who were dedicated youth coaches that prepared the next generation of Vikings.
The Lakeside High School Sports Hall of Fame is dedicated to honoring the rich history and achievements of high school athletes who graduated from Lakeside High School in Atlanta, Georgia.
