TERRI RUSSELL BOYCE (1977)

Russell, Class of 1977, played tennis and basketball for four years at Lakeside, earning letters in both sports. In tennis, she was the singles runner-up in the Class AAA State Championship her senior year and won the Class AAA State Doubles Championship her junior year. She also held state, regional and national ranking in junior tennis. In basketball, Russell played guard and won regions and went to the Class AAA state tournament. She received the prestigious Lakeside Viking Award for tennis and basketball as a senior. Following high school, she attended Auburn University and played both singles and doubles tennis her freshman and some of her sophomore year, earning a partial scholarship. During her senior year, she played softball at shortstop and third base for the Tigers. In the inaugural AIAW Women’s Slow Pitch Championship in 1981, Auburn tied for fifth place. Russell received the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award as a senior at Auburn and served as president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for two years. In current life, Russell has been happily married to her husband, Dave Boyce, for 32 years. They have two children, Caleb and Lauren, and are a part of a family business, DIFCO. They enjoy volunteering to support special needs children and overseas missions in Thailand through their church.
