LEIGH WEATHERS WILSON (1989)

Weathers Wilson, Class of 1989, was a Viking award-winning track star during her career at Lakeside and joins the Hall of Fame alongside her late brother, Rob (Class of 1977), who was inducted in 2024.Under track and field coach Eddie Roberts, Weathers won the Class 3A championship in the 400-meter race her senior year. She helped the 1600-meter relay team to a state championship alongside Tasha Richardson, Cassandra Cooper and Theresa Dix and the 400-meter relay team to second-place alongside Dix, Shirree Cutts and Latisha Williams. She held the 400-meter (57.5 seconds) school record with Rob for over 25 years.Weathers attended Middle Tennessee State University on scholarship and excelled in the 800-meter run. She was on the 4 x 800-meter, record-setting relay team which won the Ohio Valley Conference championship. She went into advertising for 10 years before a foray into the Nutraceutical industry. She is a happy homemaker and enjoys cooking and being with family and friends.She married Chris Wilson in 2011 and they have three dogs – Captain America, Floyd and Jimi Hendrix. And two cats – Biggs and Mary Jane – who tolerate them. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots, or any live music, suits her just fine. A fan of Georgia Tech, the Braves and the Falcons, she was affectionately referred to as ‘America’s Cheerleader’ by her brother, Rob.



STEVE DANIEL (1969)

Daniel, Class of 1969, was a distinguished athlete in track and football, and was a four-time Viking Award winner at Lakeside High School. He won a regional championship in the 440 yard dash and placed fifth in the state championship in the 440 yard dash, both in 1969. He also anchored the mile relay team that finished third place in the state championship in 1968. In football, he played defensive end for four years and was a captain of the team during his senior year. After high school, he attended the University of Pennsylvania where he played football in 1969. He transferred to Emory in 1971 and graduated with a BA in Psychology in 1974. After receiving his bachelor's degree, he attended Emory University School of Medicine from 1974-1978. He interned at the Medical University of South Carolina and practiced emergency medicine in the Charleston area for 35 years. He was the medical director of Roper Hospital Emergency Department from 1994-2000.Dr. Daniel retired in 2017 and lives in Mount Pleasant with Charlene, his wife of 42 years. They are avid travelers who have enjoyed visiting many destinations around the world and enjoy many other activities together. They have two children, Emily and Alex, who both live in Greenville, South Carolina.
