Snider, Class of 1991, was a multi-sport athlete at Lakeside that played basketball and soccer. She played striker and forward for all four years, including two seasons with her older sister Lisa (Class of 1988). During her varsity career, she earned the prestigious Viking Award and her club team Blackburn United became the first team from Georgia to win regionals and advance to the national stage.Snider earned an opportunity to play for Cornell and her collegiate career landed her in the Cornell University Athletics Hall of Fame. During her time with the Big Red, she set the Cornell record for season points (27 in 1990) as a freshman and she graduated tied for third in career goals (21) and third in career points (59), as well as tied for first in career assists (17)—despite missing her junior year with an injury. Amy met her husband at Cornell and they moved out west. She began playing in the United Soccer League and took on a managerial role with the franchise for 20 years. They got married in 1998—right after winning the national championship. She worked with the Fort Collins Force, Rapids Women and Storm Youth Club in addition to running a youth club for 10 years. The Snider’s have two children and the family enjoys spending time fishing together.
McCrary, Class of 1973, was a member of the 1970 Lakeside Vikings state championship football team under legendary head coach Wayman Creel. He played football during his 8th, 9th, and 10th grade seasons and was the starting B-Back as a sophomore during the state championship season. He realized that soccer was his true calling during his sophomore season and played outside back defender.As a junior, he started every game and led the Vikings to the quarterfinals. During his senior season, the Vikings advanced to the championship game before losing to Peachtree. He was named to the All-State team after his senior season.McCrary played soccer at Brevard Junior College in North Carolina and Erskine College from 1977-1979, helping lead Erskine to the NAIA Final Four in 1977. In the summer of 1977, he was invited to the U.S. Olympic Team tryouts in Squaw Valley, CA. alongside Casey Campbell (Lakeside HOF Class of 2023). He enlisted in the Army in 1983 and served as a signals analyst in the military intelligence branch. He served in Germany and attended Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA. in 1985 where he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division based at Fort Bragg, NC. He lives in Newnan and enjoys time with friends and family while playing golf and traveling.
Cronin, Class of 1970, was a standout soccer player at Lakeside High School. During high school, he helped Lakeside win the first-ever state championship in program history during his senior year in 1970. Cronin was one of the best defenders in the county and was instrumental in delivering a state title. He was named to an all-star team, where he played at Atlanta Stadium after a spectacular season receiving the all-county honor. After high school, he attended Georgia State where he played soccer for four years and received recognition as an all-defensive player during his tenure. After college, he played indoor soccer in rec leagues for some time before pursuing deer and turkey hunting and focusing on his family. Cronin ventured into the automotive industry where he began his career selling cars for three years before transitioning to a service advisor role, where he has spent his time since 1975.Today, he lives with his wife Sherrie who he has been married to for 50 wonderful years in Jackson County. He has two daughters, Kimberly and Jennifer. Both are married and live locally. Cronin is a proud grandfather to five grandchildren who are actively involved in sports including soccer, football, and lacrosse. In his free time, he goes to watch them play and supports them.
