Eubanks, Class of 1975, was a multi-sport athlete for the Vikings’ cheerleading and gymnastics teams. She was a member of the 1974 state championship gymnastics team and cheered for the Vikings for five years. Eubanks was Class Secretary for three years and was named to Who’s Who Amongst American High School Students by Educational Communications Inc.Following her graduation from Lakeside, she attended the University of Georgia where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education and a Master’s in Sports Management. As a Bulldog, she joined the Chi Omega sorority and served as an officer.For 42 years, she taught and coached at The Westminster Schools and was the Physical Education Department Chair for 14 years, the head gymnastics coach for 18 years, and the gymnastics state meet director for 11 years. As head girls cross country coach for 32 years, her teams won 26 state championships. She has received numerous awards including twice being named as the National Cross Country Coach of the Year.For 18 years, Eubanks served on the NFHS Gymnastics Rules Committee, and since 2000 has been judging gymnastics. She is a member of the Westminster Athletics and Georgia Track & Field Coaches Association Hall of Fames. Eubanks is currently retired and lives with her husband of 39 years, Harry, at Reynolds Plantation on Lake Oconee.
Brown, Class of 1975, was a four-year letterman on the varsity gymnastics team from 1971-75 and cheered all five years at Lakeside, lettering as a varsity cheerleader. The Vikings won area, county and state championships under head coach and fellow Lakeside High School Sports Hall of Famer Lucia Norwood (2019) during each of these years.Brown specialized in the balance beam and floor exercise routines, winning a state medal in the floor exercise. She also participated in the Miss Lakeside High School pageant and danced in the dance company at Decatur-DeKalb Civic Ballet.After graduating from Lakeside, Brown attended the University of Georgia on a partial gymnastics scholarship. As a Bulldog, she competed in the balance beam and floor exercise routines from 1975-77. She also danced in the UGA dance company and was a Resident Assistant in the dormitory.Brown graduated from UGA with a Bachelor of Science in Education, majoring in Health and Physical Education. She remained involved with high school athletics and taught in the DeKalb County School System for two years at Dunwoody High School where she coached eighth grade basketball and varsity gymnastics. Brown has lived in Kentucky since 1981, and currently resides in Versailles. She continued her teaching career at Woodford County High School, where she has worked since 2001. She has a daughter and two granddaughters.
Rupp, Class of 1973, was a four-year letterman on the decorated Lakeside gymnastics team. As a member of the storied Vikings gymnastics program, she competed on three state championship teams, placed second in the floor exercise in the 1970 county meet, and was a recipient of the Most Improved Award as well as the Coach’s Award for her athletic efforts.While the personal achievements were nice, what Rupp truly enjoyed was the camaraderie shared between her, her teammates and her coach, Lou Norwood. Each of her fellow gymnasts were supportive of one another, as they enjoyed the shared glory of winning multiple state titles.After graduating from Lakeside, Rupp earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from Georgia State University. She would teach for five years within Fulton County before earning her Master's in Exercise Science from GSU.After 27 years, she retired as an Associate Director for Programs in the Department of Recreational Services at Georgia State University. Now, Rupp loves living in the North Georgia mountains. She is a Gilmer County Master Gardener, and remains active with gardening, walking and yoga.
