West, Class of 1978, earned four varsity letters for Lakeside’s golf team and served as team captain his junior and senior years. He also golfed competitively with the DeKalb, Atlanta and American Jr. Golf Association—earning Player of the Year twice.Early PGA professionals Louis Butch Hanson, Luke Barnes and Jimmy Mosley were instrumental in West’s golfing at a young age, as he would make an immediate impact with the Vikings. Lakeside’s golf team captured Region 8-AAA championships during West’s sophomore and junior seasons and he was named a DeKalb County All-Star as a sophomore in addition to being named Lakeside’s Most Valuable Player, earning the Viking Award.West attended the University of Florida where he played golf from 1978-81. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Marketing from Georgia State University.West served as a golf instructor at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Stateline, NV. He earned multiple individual wins and runner-up finishes with the Georgia State Golf Association, including a club team runner-up with the Lanier Golf Club. He was East Lake Golf Club Medal Club Champion and Match Play Champion and Rivermont Golf Club, Super Senior Club Champion. West married his wife Anne in 1992 and they have a son, Will, who works at the Cal-Wood Education Center in Colorado after earning his undergrad in bio and masters in science education.

Raney, Class of 1976, competed in football under coach Wayman Creel and golf under coach Dwight Norris. After Lakeside, Raney focused on golf. He attempted to walk-on the Georgia Tech golf team as a freshman but was unsuccessful. Continuing his work with his coach Randall Couch, Raney won Tech’s Campus Intramural Championship.After qualifying for the team as a sophomore, he earned letters for three-consecutive seasons, was awarded a golf scholarship as a junior and senior and was captain his senior season.After graduation, Raney competed as a professional in events across Florida and California. His lowest round in competition was eight under 64. He shot 68 while competing against 130 professionals to earn one of four spots in the PGA Tour’s 1985 Provident Classic. After regaining amateur status, Raney won seven Club Championships at Druid Hills Golf Club and five Club Championships at Frederica Golf Club on St. Simon’s Island.A veteran of Commercial Real Estate in Atlanta, Raney founded Raney Real Estate and was cited for his work as principal in the initial sale and redevelopment of the 5.5-mile, 65-acre land tract now known as the northeast quadrant of the Atlanta Beltline, and was recognized as a top-five producer by the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors.
