David Dalbo, Class of 1972, was a multi-sport athlete during his time at Lakeside. He played on the Vikings football and track teams, but was most notable for his time on the wrestling team. His efforts as a wrestler helped lead the Vikings to first-place finishes in the 1972 Region Championship. As a senior, Dalbo scored a first-place finish at the 1972 State Championships while competing in the 145-pound weight class. During his senior year he also played for the Vikings football team as an offensive lineman. His time on the field led him to receive All-Region Honors. Apart from the football field and wrestling mat, Dalbo also earned three letters while performing with the Lakeside Concert Band. After his graduation from Lakeside, Dalbo continued his education at Georgia Tech’s School of Industrial Management, and graduated with honors in the Class of 1975. Following his time as a Yellow Jacket, he worked in Information Technology and would stay in the field for the majority of his career. After graduating from Georgia Tech, Dalbo married Diane Williams, a fellow Lakeside graduate from the Class of 1974. Today, they both live in a house behind Lakeside and enjoy spending time with their three children: Ansley, Raegan and Austin, along with their two grandchildren Ty and Dori.
Jeff Garrett, Class of 1971, was a four-year varsity athlete on Lakeside’s wrestling team. Garrett’s senior season was his most decorated as he was the 3A state wrestling champion while competing in the 126-pound weight class. That same year, he also won the County and Region wrestling championships. Garrett, along with fellow Lakeside Hall of Fame inductee Johnny Kalvelage, were the Vikings team captains during the championship season. His efforts on the wrestling mat helped him earn the prestigious Viking Award. After graduating from Lakeside, Garrett continued his education at Presbyterian College. He later transferred to Georgia State University and obtained a BBA degree in Real Estate Finance. After leaving Georgia State, he focused on building a career in real estate development.Garrett is married to his wife of 45 years, LewAnn, and has three children and eight grandchildren. Wrestling continued to be a part of his life as he went on to coach the wrestling feeder program for Walton High School and assisted the Roswell High School wrestling program. His son Lee followed in his footsteps and was also a four-year varsity wrestler at Roswell High School. Garrett retired in 2017 and moved to Lake Lanier where he currently spends most of his time going fishing and hunting.
