Claire Hubbard-Mann, Class of 1982, is this year’s recipient of the Beth Cooley Cheerleading Award. She started cheering early on in the 1st grade and earned three varsity letters as a cheerleading captain for the Vikings. She was awarded the Most Outstanding Cheerleader Award during each year she spent as team captain and also served as class Vice President for three years and a senator for two years. Hubbard-Mann was also involved with the Miss Lakeside Court and pageant. She served as prom chairman and was elected as an Outstanding Senior and Key Club Sweetheart before graduating and attending the University of Georgia.During her time in Athens, Hubbard-Mann served as Rush Chairman for Alpha Omicron Pi and was inducted into the Order of Omega and Rho Lambda Greek Honor Societies. She also received the Hesperia Award in 1986, an honor that recognizes the top-four Greek women on campus. Hubbard-Mann earned a Master’s Degree (MEd) in Early Childhood Education from West Georgia in 1993 and has been an educator for the last 24 years and a teacher at an after school Theatre Company for eight years. Additionally, Hubbard-Mann has been married for 27 years, has two kids and is a proud charter member of Gwinnett Church—where she has served as a greeter for 11 years.
