CAROL CHILTON-GORNOWICZ (1986)

Chilton, Class of 1986, was a multisport athlete for the Vikings lettering in basketball and soccer all four years. On the basketball court, she amassed 962 career points and earned the Viking Award following her senior season.On the pitch, she totaled 45 goals and 44 career assists. Chilton was a four-year starter and was named DeKalb County West Player of the Year and an NSCAA All-American in 1985 and 1986.After graduating from Lakeside, Chilton went on to play soccer at Berry College. There, she would be named an NAIA All-American all four years, and the MVP of the NAIA Tournament during Berry’s 1987 National Championship run. Chilton ended her collegiate career at Berry with 72 goals and 26 assists.Chilton earned a degree in Middle School Education from Berry. Following graduation, she returned to DeKalb County where she taught elementary school and coached soccer at Lakeside from 1992-1999. She has been married to her husband George for 28 years and has four daughters, Kaitlyn, Mary, Emily and Clare.



PETER PAK (1986)

Pak, Class of 1986, was a two-year captain of the varsity soccer team, two-time All-State selection as well as DeKalb County Most Valuable Player during his high school career. His on-field success also earned him United Soccer Coaches All-American and Adidas All-American Honorable Mention honors.Pak continued his soccer career in college, attending Ohio Wesleyan University to play for Jay Martin, the winningest coach in NCAA history and member of the United Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame. He was a two-year captain of the Battling Bishops, a three-year North Coast Athletic Conference All-Conference selection, two-year United Soccer Coaches All-Region selection and is a member of the Ohio Wesleyan University Athletic Hall of Fame.Pak served as board chair of the Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club, helping grow the club from 3,000 members to over 10,000, and helping the club develop one of the largest outreach programs in the country.Pak is married to Angela, his wife of 20 years. Together, they have three children, J.P., S.J. and Philip.



RONNIE ROBERTS (1980)

Roberts, Class of 1980, was a prolific soccer player during his years at Lakeside High School. In his senior season, he was named DeKalb County Most Valuable Player and Lakeside’s Most Valuable Player. His talents also resulted in being named to the AllDekalb County team and earning All-American recognition.In 1979, Roberts played for the U.S. National Under 19 team and also competed at the National Olympic Sports Festival in Colorado Springs for the U.S. South team.Roberts received a full athletic scholarship to play soccer at Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York and played four seasons with the Hawks. After graduating from Hartwick, he earned a Masters degree in finance from Georgia State University.For 19 years, Roberts has been working for the Sea Island Company on the coast and is the current Chief Financial Officer. Together with his wife Sharon, he has two sons. Sharon spends her time as the president of the non-profit corporation Graceful Goods, which is dedicated to helping single mothers.



MERCK SMITH (1978)

Smith,Class of 1978, was a four-year letterman forthe varsity soccer team. During his freshman season, he helped lead the Vikings to the 1975 State Championship, taking home the school’s third soccer championship in school history. Smith was voted Most Valuable Player as a senior and capped off his high school career with his second state title in 1978.After graduating from Lakeside, Smith went on to attend college at Emory University. There he was a four-year starter before pursuing a career in law.Smith practiced law for many years before running a publishing company in Roswell. He then went back to school in 2013 where he received his Masters Degree in Teaching. With his newfound passion, Smith would use his degree to pursue a life-long dream of becoming the Lakeside Varsity Soccer team’s head coach.Before taking over the varsity team, Smith coached under Rick Barbe from 2008-2012, winning the state championship in 2008. He also coached under Jim Mitchell from 1978-1985 and was part of the 1981 state championship team.



JOHN CREVISTON (1976)

Creviston, Class of 1976, was a four-year letterman for the Viking’s soccer team, starting each year as the team’s goalie. He helped lead the team to back-to-back state titles in 1974 and 1975, shutting out Westminster 4-0 and besting Henderson 4-1 in the championship games, respectively and was considered the top goalkeeper in Georgia. His efforts on the pitch led him to being named All-State and a DeKalb County All-Star.Creviston also played football his senior year, earning a varsity letter and taking on the role of the team’s kicker as the Vikings posted an 11-2 overall record in 1975 and clinched the Region 8-AAA championship with a perfect 6-0 mark.In the years following his varsity career, Creviston attended college at Georgia Tech where he played club Soccer for multiple seasons. Upon graduation, he had earned two degrees in engineering.Today, Creviston is building on a long career as an information system consultant. He has two sons in Jeff and Rob, who are 31 and 28 years of age and is engaged to his fiancee Claudia Bell.
