Carlisle, Class of 1983, was a four-year varsity starter for the Lakeside wrestling team and also lettered in football as an offensive and defensive lineman. During his junior and senior seasons, he was a county and region champion and won back-to-back Wrestling State Titles in 1982-83 in the unlimited weight division.He went undefeated on the mat as a junior and senior and earned a pair of state titles. Carlisle managed to outdo his first flawless run by winning all but one match on pins his senior year.Of the 12 state individual championships Lakeside has in wrestling, Carlisle has two of them, joining other multi-championship winner John Kalvelage, who won three from 1969-71. After graduating from Lakeside, Carlisle went on to play quick guard for Western Carolina for one season before suffering a career ending neck injury.In recent years, he has been involved as a USA archery coach and is a certified archery judge, as well as head coach and director of the Forsyth County 4-H Archery Club. Carlisle also serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Archery Association. Board of Directors for the Georgia Archery Association.
