LIANNA BEBEAU (1984)

Bebeau, Class of 1984, won the 1983 and 1984 AAAA individual state titles during her tennis career at Lakeside. Her 1984 individual title helped propel the Lady Vikings to the AAAA team state title. The victory marked the only Girls State Tennis Championship for Lakeside in school history.She was the 1984 valedictorian and earned All-American and academic All-American honors. She took her tennis talents to the University of Georgia where she lettered from 1985-88.While at Georgia, she made the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 1986, 1987 and 1988. She was part of the 1987 NCAA runner-up team after the Bulldogs lost to Stanford in the finals. In 1988, she helped Georgia to a semifinal ap- pearance in the NCAA Tournament as well as being named NCAA Academic All-American.She continued her academic success at UGA in the classroom and was the 1988 Valedictorian of her class as well as the UGA Schol- ar Athlete of the Year. After college, Bebeau competed for two years on the pro circuit. In 2014, she and her son, Parker Jones, won the Mother-Son National Clay Court Championship.
